ACT* Prep Chicago

ACT Prep Chicago is happy to announce our winter/spring ACT prep course beginning Sunday January 15, 2012 until April 22, 2012.  Even though we have started our cycle, students are welcome to join the class at any time.  We will meet every Sunday from 2pm-4pm or 4pm to 6pm (depending on your class) except on February 19 and April 8.  Our classes are held at the newly renovated Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation, 7901 S Racine.

Small classes include

• In depth content review
• Strategies that our specific to individual student's skill level
• Expert and passionate instructors
• 2 hours of instruction per class
  
• Practice with questions in ACT format
• 2 full length practice tests with score reports
  

Each session will cover multiple skills in 1-2 subject areas of the ACT.  We will cover each subject until we have completed the necessary skills for that individual subject. 

The amount of classes that each student needs to thoroughly prepare for the ACT varies from student to student according to skill level, exposure, and expectations.  We suggest at least 2 cycle of classes (20 classes) for a thorough review.

Each book costs $32.  When you click on the button to pay, you can enter the quantity of books you would like to purchase.

One-on-one tutoring has, by far, led to the greatest student retention and skill improvement than any other service we offer and for obvious reasons.  One of our highly skilled instructors is able to detect individual strengths and weaknesses and develop a personalized plan for attacking the ACT.  Our one-on-one tutoring includes:

• Skill level assessment
• Personalized plan based on individual student skill level and expectations.
• Thorough review of content covered in specific ACT Subject areas
• Thorough review of strategies geared toward the individual student's skill level and expectations
• Personalized coaching for encouragement, work ethic and relaxation
• Test taking practice in session and for homework
• 1:1 student to teacher ratio

Books: One or more books may need to be purchased by the student depending on the tutor.  Students are notified of this book upon registration.

Minimum Hours Suggestion: We suggest 2hrs of tutoring per session which allows our instructors to thoroughly review 1 to 2 subjects.  However, students have the option of only one hour.  As a general rule we cover one subject per hour.  Therefore, if you want to make sure students are able to review each subject, students will need a minimum of 12 hours.  However, in many cases, students need much more than twelve hours for thorough content review.  Students that opt for more content review have the option of enrolling in both one-on-one instruction  and small group instruction. 

Price:  The cost for our one-on-one tutoring varies from $25/hr to $40/hr depending on the tutor and the location of the tutoring session.  There is also a one time $42 registration/processing fee.

The cost of 2hrs of one-on-one intsruction is $60 cash and $63 credit card.  You save $20 if you get 2hrs of instuction instead of 1hr. 

Our In-Home 1-on-1 consists of the same design as our above described 1-on-1 except you get to meet with your tutor in the comfort of your home. 

The cost of In-Home 1-on-1 tutoring is $50 for 1hr cash and $52 for 1hr credit card. 

For 2 hrs of In-Home 1-on-1 tutoring, the cost is $80 cash and $83 credit card for a savings of $20.

Take a full length practice exam to check your progress and/or refresh your skills and strategies prior to taking the ACT.  We offer Real ACT practice exams that were created by ACT and administered as national tests. 

We have 2 options of score reports. 

1) Basic score report that gives you percentage correct and ACT scores for each subject on the ACT.  2 pages $25 (Click here to view a sample basic score report)

2) Detailed score report that includes the Basic score report and a breaksdown for specific skills covered in each subject area.  7 pages $50 (Click here to view a sample detailed score report)

June 6, 2010 - 10am-6pm

Welcome to our ACT Cram Slam, your final chance for last minute review before the June 12th testing date!  Our Cram Slam includes:

• Taking a full length ACT Practice Exam created by the makers of the actual ACT. (This gives students the best indication of what is likely on the actual ACT since the practice test and actual test are written by the same authors)
• Immediate review of this practice test in a classroom setting with expert ACT instructors. (You don't have to wait weeks or months to find out what mistakes you made and how to correct those errors.)
• Increasing content knowledge
• Skill development
• Implementing useful strategies specific to the ACT that reveal its tendencies and enable a student to attack questions they are more likely to answer correctly
• Score reports that give your ACT score for each section and your cummalative score
• Lunch and snacks

Price: $80 cash, $85 credit card. 

Early registration: We offer 20% off the credit card price of $85 if you register by phone before or on June 2, 2010. (Your price would be $65).

ACT Practice Exam - April 11, 2010

 THE PSAE Test is fast approaching and you want to be ready.  We are offering a practice test of the ACT portion of the PSAE.  This test will help you assess and improve your weaknesses as you prepare for the most important test of your high school career.

Included in our Practice test packet, you receive: 

• Full length ACT test (w/o writing) administered in ACT testing environment 
• Score Report provided in 10 days or less
• Your test booklet, answer sheet and an answer key to check your answers with correct answers
• Access to full written explanations of all test questions (This access comes in the form of purchasing $10 book.  Students will be given the book information corresponding to the test they took after they complete the test)

*On April 18th, our instructors will review selected test questions for each section of the ACT.  The fee for taking this class and the practice exam is $60 cash and $65 credit card. Our third and final cycle begins February 21st from 12:30pm to 4:30pm.  New students take the full length ACT test without the writing.  These tests are analyzed and scored by our experts.  Students and parents get a score report. Returning students take the English and Math portions.  Instructors review those tests for immediate feedback and correction.          
 
Following this initial class, classes occur on the next 6-7 consecutive Sundays from 12:30pm to 4:30pm. 

 It is our goal to have all our students registered to take the ACT in April .  
 
The 6 classes following the initial class on Feb. 21st consists of students taking complete segments of the ACT in a timed enviorment.  Instructors will review each section  for immediate feedback.  This review will increase content knowledge as well as  strategy implementation.    This process is continued several times which equates to taking between 2 and 3 full length tests.
